WHEN PUPPY’S BREATH IS RUFF
The breaths of hundreds of panting dogs roaming around at Downtown at the Gardens next weekend will be minty fresh, thanks to an attempt to set a quirky world record.
G r o o m i n g c o m p a n y Scenthound has organized a second effort to break the Guinness World Record for “most people brushing dogs’ teeth simultaneously,” an effort to educate people about dog health and dental hygiene. The tooth-brushing starts 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at the outdoor shopping center, 11701 Lake Victoria Gardens Ave.
It’s free, and instructions and supplies will be provided. All dogs that are registered in advance also can get their nails trimmed for free. People can sign up their dogs online at www.scenthound.com or any Scenthound location.
A smaller event last year was shy of the 268 dogs and their owners who set the 2012 record in Hong Kong. For Scenthound CEO and founder Tim Vogel, however, the record-setting effort is really about teaching people how to take better care of their beloved pets. Periodontal disease can lead to other problems in a dog’s lungs, kidneys and heart, according to a news release.
The Dog Care Awareness Day that goes until 4 p.m. will feature live music by The Helmsmen, kids’ activities, dog adoptions, dog dental-cleaning giveaways and demonstrations by K9 Fit Lab. Cleveland Browns place-kicker Cody Parkey, a former Jupiter High School football standout, will make an appearance.
