Njoku heading to NFL combine

At least one former Miami Hurricane will be present at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine — and there likely will be several more.

Malki Kawa, the agent for tight end David Njoku, confifirme­d Monday that his client received an invitation. The combine runs Feb. 8 to March 6 in Indianapol­is.

Njoku was rated as high as the 12th-best overall draft prospect by NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranks him 22nd.

The NFL released the full list of combine participan­ts Monday morning on its website, but that database was not accessible as of Monday night.

Quarterbac­k Brad Kaaya — wh o , l i k e N j o k u , l e f t school early for the pros — is expected to be among them.

Former UM safety Jamal Carter has been invited; Steven Feld, a rep for Carter, confifirme­d this on Monday.

Former Cane hired as Wolfpack’s DL coach: North Carolina State has hired Kevin Patrick as its defensive line coach.

Coach Dave Doeren on Monday announced the hiring of Patrick, who spent last season coaching Texas Tech’s defensive linemen.

Patrick, who played at Forest Hill High School, helped Miami win national championsh­ips as a player in 1989 and 1991.
