SUNFLOWER MAZE IN FULL BLOOM

Act quickly to see Loxahatchee Groves attraction

Raj Sinha has been growing sunflowers in New Jersey for about 10 years, but it has always been his dream to plant a field at his winter home in Loxahatchee Groves. It went better than expected. Sinha and his family have cut out a maze in his 5-acre sunflower field at 1300 D Road in Loxahatchee Groves, and most of the bright yellow flowers are blooming.

His maze in New Jersey is a popular spot. Its Facebook page has more than 20,000 “likes,” and 18 people were engaged there last summer.

Though he has been open for only about two weeks in Florida, he got his first engagement, which he said always puts a smile on his face. The guests with a ring in their pocket will look a little sheepish.

“You never know if they’re just nervous customers or what it is,” Sinha said with a laugh.

The Loxahatchee Groves maze has agricultural facts throughout and spots to take photos. He’ll often get professional photogra- phers stopping by his farms and even got his first horse recently.

But anyone interested needs to act quickly. He can only guarantee keeping the maze open through this weekend. Once all the sunflowers bloom, they need to dry out so they can be harvested and turned into cooking oil or birdseed.

The cost is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 4 to 12, and free for children younger than 3. For more information, visit sunflowermaze.com or call 561-320-3548.
