JUPITER — Growth on Love Street and throughout the Inlet Village on State Road A1A, as well as the future of the Suni Sands Mobile Home Park, are the top issues for the six candidates in the Jupiter Town Council elections March 14.

Councilmen Wayne Posner and Ron Delaney, both elected just last year to one-year terms, each face opposition from two challengers for three-year terms paying $18,600 a year.

First District Councilman Posner, a former contractor who has

opposed a moratorium on the building projects, faces two opponents of the Love Street plan, Teri Grooms and Carol “CD” Watson.

Second District Councilman Delaney, who has supported the moratorium and opposes the Love Street proposal, faces political newcomer Heidi Epstein, who opposes the Love Street and Suni Sands plans, and Ben Klug, who held the District 2 seat when Delaney defeated him last year. Klug says he would support the building plans with some adjustments.

If a runoff election is required — as happened last year when Posner defeated longtime Mayor Karen Golonka for a council seat — it will be March 28.

The 2-acre Love Street site has been a hot topic since property owner Charles Modica last month submitted a scaled-down plan calling for two restaurants and retail/offices. Modica in November paid about $8 million for the adjacent 4-acre Rustic Inn restaurant property.
