Second person arrested in carjacking near ATM

A second person has been arrested in connection with an alleged armed carjacking in February near an ATM west of the city.

Andy Lee Jackson, 31, of suburban West Palm Beach, was arrested Tuesday on charges that include armed carjacking, burglary of an occupied vehicle and kidnapping in the Feb. 4 incident behind a Wells Fargo bank on Okeechobee Boulevard, east of Haverhill Road. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail that night on his own recognizan­ce, according to jail records.

I n Ma r c h , a u t h o r i t i e s arrested Donte D. Stevenson, 17, in connection with the same incident. He was transferre­d to the Palm Beach County Jail last week after authoritie­s decided to try him as an adult.

Since October, nearly a dozen Palm Beach County juveniles accused in c arjacking incidents have been charged as adults.

Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office investigat­ors say J a c k s o n a n d S t e v e n s o n approached a woman who was making a deposit at a drive-through ATM at the bank and got into her car. They reportedly forced the woman to drive to a rear alley and stop.

Stevenson was linked to the carjacking when someone called in a tip to Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County.

Stevenson directed deputies to a residence where they made contact with Jackson, the report said.

Investigat­ors say Jackson was armed with a revolver during the carjacking.
