A 37-year- old man was arrested after Palm Beach County sheriff ’s deputies say he stabbed a woman several times at a home near Hypoluxo on Monday night.

Jason Paul, who lives south of Greenacres, faces charges of aggravated battery with a weapon and burglary. He remained in the Palm Beach County Jail on $40,000 bail Thursday.

Just after 8 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to a home near Mentone Road, just south of Hypoluxo Road and west of U.S. 1, where a woman was found with several stab wounds.

Witnesses told investigators Paul came to the residence unannounced and “appeared to be drunk,” according to the report. The 41-year-old woman told Paul he needed to leave and then he slapped her, according to the report.

The woman ran into the kitchen, grabbed a pan and hit him on the forehead, investigators said. That’s when witnesses say Paul grabbed a knife and went after the woman, stabbing her several times.

One witness told investigators Paul came after her, but she was able to lock herself in a room inside the home.

The woman was taken to a hospital as a trauma patient.

Witnesses said Paul does not live at the home but often visits.

The relationship between Paul and the woman who was stabbed is redacted from the report.

Paul drove himself to the Lantana Police Department where he claimed a person — whose name is redacted from the report — “jumped him,” a c c ordi ng t o t he re por t . Police said he had a 3-inch knife with him.

According to the report, t h e r e were s e v e r a l p a s t domestic incidents between Paul and the woman, but there were no arre sts or restraining orders in Palm Beach County court records.
