Senators’ OT win caps rally

Ottawa evens series as Phaneuf ’s goal defeats Bruins 4-3.

Dion Phaneuf scored at 1:59 of overtime Saturday as the host Ottawa Senators rallied for a 4-3 playoff victory over the Boston Bruins.

The Senators rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a two-goal third period to force overtime. The Eastern Conference series is even as it shifts to Boston for Game 3 on Monday.

Clarke MacArthur, Chris Wideman and Derick Brassard also scored for the Senators and Craig Anderson made 26 saves.

Drew Stafford, Tim Schaller and Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask stopped 25 shots.

The Senators started the overtime with the man advantage as the Bruins took a delay of game penalty with 12.5 seconds remaining in regulation.

Trail i ng 3-1 to s t ar t t he third, the Senators scored twice in a span of 2:20 to tie the game.

Wideman, with his first playoff goal, made it 3-2 with a goal from the point and Brassard, off a great pass from Erik Karlsson, tied the game at 7:48 off a one-timer.

B o s t o n d e f e n s e man a s Adam McQuaid exited midway through the first period, and Ottawa defenseman Mark Borowiecki left after going hard into the boards, also during the first period.

Ottawa had Marc Methot back in the lineup for the first time since suffering a laceration to his pinky finger on March 23.

The Bruins were already thin on defense as Joe Morrow was in for an injured Colin Miller.

Predators 5, (at) Blackhawks 0: Pekka Rinne made 30 saves in his second straight shutout and picked up two assists as Nashville took a 2-0 series lead. Game 3 is Monday night in Nashville.

Ryan Johansen had a goal and two assists as Nashville added a dominant performanc­e to its taut 1-0 victory in Game 1 on Thursday night.
