A 3 1 -ye a r- o l d B oy nt o n Beach man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting that occurred in January in the northern end of the city.

P o l i c e s a y t h a t J a me s Young II shot two men the evening of Jan. 24 during an argument over drugs and gambling. He faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and marijuana possession.

On the night of the shooting, police responded to the 300 block of Northeast 13th Avenue, between Seacrest Boulevard and Federal Highway. They found one man with a gunshot wound to his arm and a second shooting victim lying in the roadway. Both men were taken to Delray Medical Center, according to a city police report.

During the investigation, detectives tried to speak to a man whose residence had security cameras facing the shooting scene. The build- ing’s manager informed officers that Young lived there. Young reportedly told the manager the cameras were not working, and he refused to cooperate with police, the report said.

Detectives received numerous anonymous tips indicating that Young was the gunman. They obtained a warrant to search his apartment.

Officers found a bag filled with marijuana, an electronic scale and clear plastic bags, according to the report.

One of the shooting victims gave police a brief statement before being rushed into the surgery. The man told officers Young shot him, the report said.
