In Kamol Kaewsai’s nearly 20 years running Sushi Rock in the cit y’s north end, he’d never a problem with crime — until Monday night.

After Kaewsai closed the restaurant and walked toward the poorly lit employee parking lot two men approached him, one with a handgun pointed toward his head.

“I heard, ‘Shoot him, shoot him, shoot him,’” Kaewsai recalled Thursday.

B oc a Raton pol i c e a re s t i l l searching for the men who robbed Kaewsai of his wallet and cellphone, then sped off in his 2008 BMW X5.

“I told them to take whatever you want,” he said. “It all happened so fast.”

Police say two men between the ages 18 and 20 dressed all in black and with short hair carried out the robbery. The BMW had a LoJack, a stolen-vehicle recovery system, that police used to track the car to Pompano Beach, where it was abandoned, the department said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tim Kurdys at 561-338-1377 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800458-TIPS (8477).

Kaewsai, who opened Sushi Ro c k i n 1 9 9 8 , s a i d t h e me n approached him from the parking lot of a gas station, which has two broken light bulbs. He didn’t see them coming.

“I blame myself,” he said. “I should be more aware.”

Kaewsai and his employees now move their cars to the front parking lot before nightfall in an abundance of precaution.
