Scores of local boaters will flood the Intracoastal Waterway in Boca Raton this weekend for an annual boating bash — for the second weekend in a row.

The Boca Bash, an unofficial a nnu a l water par t y pl a nned through social media, was rained out last weekend, although a crowd converged at Lake Boca, south of Palmetto Park Road and north of the Boca Raton Inlet, despite the weather, according to the event’s Facebook page.

But the loosely organized event, planned and promoted through a Facebook page, will happen again this Sunday.

Hundreds of boaters, paddle boarders and kayakers are drawn to the waterway each year for the full-day, music and drinking-drenched floating party.

It isn’t a city-sponsored event, but still has an effec t on c it y resources.

Boc a Raton police are pre - paring for a second weekend of increased presence at the waterfront during the event.

“While Boca Bash is not an ‘official’ event, we will be increasing our coverage to keep it a safe event as we do every year,” said Mark Economou, police spokesman. “Our plan is the same as it was last Sunday.”

The event, which has taken place for at least the past five ye a r s , happens e a c h ye a r a t Lake Boca sometime in April. The details trickle in early in the year through The Boca Bash’s Facebook page.

A n d wh i l e r a i n y we a t h e r plagued last week’s bash, only bright skies and summer-like heat are expected this weekend.
