BOYNTON BEACH — An investigation is underway after the mother of a 1-year-old boy claims the bathroom sink in a Boynton Beach motel fell on her son’s arm.

Emma Bryan, 26, and her family were living in the Atlantic Lodge on Federal Highway. She said she reported to motel staff weeks ago the sink appeared to be separating from the wall. She said it was never fixed, according to a city police report.

The boy was taken April 22 to Bethesda Hospital East, and was given stitches to close a cut on his arm.

But the owner of the motel, Bozena Mazurek, told The Palm Beach Post the sink was fixed. She blames the boy’s parents.

“The sink was fixed two weeks prior to the incident so I don’t know why they’re saying something that is not true,” Mazurek said. “The sink was in pieces. So there had to be force used to get the sink down. I don’t know who did that, what they did. It’s unusual. If it just fell it would still be supported by the pipes underneath.”

A Department of Children and Families spokeswoman said there is an investigation into an allegation, but would not elaborate.

Bryan and the child’s father, Dontavius Towns, 27, could not be reached Friday.

Mazurek said she moved the Keep up with The Post’s complete coverage of Boynton Beach on its Facebook page dedicated to the city. On Facebook, search for Post on Boynton Beach.

family to a different room after the incident, and they are expected to leave the lodge this weekend.

Bryan told police she came to the motel after working a midnight shift at a nearby 7-Eleven, and a short time later, Towns left to go to work at Two Men and a Truck. Bryan spent the day with her three children — ages 4 months, 1 and 4 — in bed and watching television. She fell asleep, and woke to a loud crash in the bathroom, she told police.

In the bathroom, Bryan found the sink detached from the wall and on top of her son. The sink cut the boy’s left arm, she told police. When Towns returned, he called police and paramedics. Police called DCF.
