Woman who forgot where she left child faces neglect charges

Toddler found after multi-agency search turned over to DCF.

RIVIERA BEACH — Multiple police agencies searched last Friday for a toddler who had reportedly been abducted.

It turned out the 3-yearold’s caregiver forgot where she’d left the child.

D a p h n e S a n o n f a c e s charges of child neglect and making a false 911 call. She was released Saturday from the Palm Beach County Jail on a $6,000 surety bond.

Police say the 21-year-old called authoritie­s shortly after 10 p.m. to report that someone had taken a 3-yearold from her car parked on West 31st Street.

Riviera detectives, Jupiter Police Department’s bloodhound unit and the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office helicopter all assisted in the search for the reportedly missing toddler.

They eventually found the toddler unharmed at a home in an unincorpor­ated pocket of West Palm Beach, about five miles from where Sanon said the child had been abducted.

People at the home told police Sanon dropped off the child unexpected­ly, and without explanatio­n. They said Sanon had been driving around while apparently under the influence of an unknown drug.
