- By Jorge Milian Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

The woman accused of killing a Delray Beach police officer in Key West while driving drunk will appear before a magistrate judge today at 1 p.m. in Monroe County, her attorney said.

L a c y Mo r r i s , 3 1 , w a s released from a Miami-Dade County jail Wednesday and taken by Monroe County law enforcement officers to Key West, her attorney said. Morris faces multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter.

Evan Hoffman, Morris’ attorney, said he’s entered a written plea of not guilty on Morris’ behalf.

Hoffman will file a motion Friday in hopes of reducing Morris’ bail amount of $170,000 and said he expects a bond hearing to take place next week.

Morris, of Summerland Key, is accused of driving drunk April 8 and causing the death of Officer Christine Braswell, 40, Delray Beach’s only female SWAT team member. Officer Bernenda Marc, 25, was riding as a passenger on a scooter that Braswell was driving and was seriously injured.

Morris was arrested May 2 in Broward County and moved to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on May 4.

“We’re just very thankful that she’s finally getting her day in court,” Hoffman said.

Morris’ court appearance today will take place at the Plantation Key Government Center in Tavernier.
