Warriors smash Spurs for 2-0 lead

Golden State takes advantage with Leonard sidelined.

S t e phen Curr y had 2 9 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in three quarters as the Golden State Warriors ran away from the San Antonio Spurs for a 136-100 rout Tuesday night and 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals.

Kevin Durant added 16 points and Draymond Green provided another strong allaround performanc­e with 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, t wo steals and two blocks. Rookie Patrick McCaw had 18 points and five assists off the bench, shooting 6 for 8 as Golden State earned its most lopsided victory of the playoffs to go to 10-0.

Jonathon Simmons scored 17 of hi s 22 points in the first half as the lone bright spot for the short-handed Spurs, who played without the injured Kawhi Leonard.

The Warriors’ Zaza Pachulia, involved in the controvers­ial play that resulted in Leonard’s ankle injury in Game 1, didn’t come out for the second half because of a bruised right heel. He was scheduled for an X-ray. Pachulia played nearly seven minutes but sat the entire second quarter before Matt Barnes took his place.

G o l d e n S t a t e q u i c k l y establishe­d its pass-happy, up-tempo style to take the Spurs out from the opening tip. It was a drastic difference from Game 1, when the Warriors rallied from 25 down and a 20-point halftime deficit.

Celtics win lottery: Capitalizi­ng on a trade they made with the Brooklyn Nets four years ago, the Boston Celtics earned the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft lottery.

The Los Angeles Lakers were other big winners, moving up one spot to second to hold onto their pick. They would have had to trade it to Philadelph­ia if it fell outside the top three.

The 76ers will pick third. Phoenix fell two spots and is fourth.
