Man dead, woman injured in domestic shooting

One man is dead and a woman was taken to a hospital following a shooting at a West Palm Beach apartment complex Tuesday afternoon, according to city police.

Investigators believe the man shot and killed himself after shooting the woman in the domestic-related incident.

The shooti ng was f i r s t reported by residents at the Parc 500 apartment complex at 500 North Congress Avenue, near Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and just north of Executive Center Drive. At the scene, police said a man shot a woman several times and then shot and killed himself. Assistant Police Chief Tameca West said the woman was shot several times in her legs, but was able to make it out of the apartment and yell for help.

As of Tuesday evening, the woman remained in surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center, West said. Police said the woman is in her late 20s or early 30s. The relationship between the woman and the man is unknown, but police said the shooting was domestic related.

Residents standing around the entrance to the apartment complex said they did not see the incident but heard shots Tuesday afternoon. One family, who did not want to give any of their names, said after dozens of police cars showed up they saw the woman being carried out on a stretcher. No one in the area said they knew the man or woman involved in the shooting.
