Man charged with threats against Trump
WEST PA L M B E AC H — A 27-year-old Coral Springs man will appear in U.S. District Court today, accused of making threats against President Donald Trump while at psychiatric and addiction treatment centers in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Kamran Ebrahimi, who was charged this week with making threats against the president, is to appear before a U.S. magistrate, who will determine whether he will remain incarcerated.
A U. S . S e c r e t S e r v i c e agent was summoned to the Retreat at Palm Beach on May 26 after staff at the Palm Springs re sidential drug rehabilitation center became concerned about threats Ebrahimi had made against Trump.
“l wil l nuke t he White House,” he said, according to court records.
Earlier in May, while being involuntarily committed to a mental health facility under the state’s Baker Act, Coral Springs police claimed Ebrahimi yelled: “Give this speech to Donald Trump before I assassinate him.”
Interviewed by Secret Service agents after his release, Ebrahimi was apologetic and remorseful, federal agents said. His mother told them he is bipolar, a condition that becomes exacerbated when he takes illicit drugs.
He was arrested this week after he was taken from the Retreat at Palm Beach to JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, where he was again committed under the state’s Baker Act. Staff in the hospital’s psychiatric unit said Ebrahimi was becoming increasingly hostile toward Trump and hospital staff.
