Woman charged after road-rage incident involving police, wrecker
DELRAY BEACH — A Lake Worth woman is being held without bail after she attacked Delray Beach police officers following a roadrage incident with a towtruck driver, according to an arrest report.
An officer patrolling the area of West Atlantic Avenue and Barwick Road on May 20 noticed Katrisha Evette Scott screaming and throwing water at a tow-truck driver, the report said.
Told to stop throwing water, Scott allegedly shouted, “I ain’t stoppin,’” then got into her vehicle and drove off.
The officer tailed Scott’s Ford hatchback until she came to a stop at the Walmart at Military Trail and Linton Boulevard.
“You’ll have to bury me because I’m not going to jail tonight,” Scott told the officer, according to the report.
While waiting for a police supervisor to arrive at the scene, Scott put her car into reverse, bumping into the police vehicle, the report said. An officer broke the passenger-side window on the Ford, causing Scott to stop.
The report said Scott punched and kicked two officers as she was being arrested and was placed in leg restraints. She continually shouted, “I’m not going to jail.”
A witness who saw the confrontation told officers she had “never seen anyone fight the police so hard.”
Officers later learned that the road rage began because Scott thought the tow-truck driver had cut her off.
Scott, 34, is facing two counts of battery on an officer and one count each of resisting arrest with violence and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
