NYU Langone opening area medical offices

- Alexandra Clough

New York University’s Langone Medical Center is opening medical offices in West Palm Beach and Delray Beach, the latest out-of-area health care provider to cater to Palm Beach County patients.

NYU Langone has leased 7,200 square feet of ground floor space at the 101 North Clematis office building. The space is next to Pistache restaurant and part of Waterfront Clematis, a downtown two-building office and retail complex on Clematis Street, between Narcissus Avenue and Flagler Drive.

The offices are expected to be open by October.

“We want to be closer to our patients. We have many patients who live in the Palm Beach County area who travel to NYU Langone in the New York region for their health care. Now we will be closer to where they live,” Andrew Rubin, vice president for clini- cal affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone, said in an email.

Rubin said NYU Langone Medical Associates in West Palm Beach will provide primary and cardiology care. It will be connected to NYU Langone’s new Delray Beach office, NYU Langone Cardiology Services, set to open Aug. 1. The office, at 16244 S. Military Trail, is a partnership with an existing cardiology practice, led by Dr. Louis Snyder.

Medical experts say NYU Langone’s reasoning is to provide “continuous care” to New York patients who also have homes in Palm Beach County, and who travel back and forth. But NYU Langone’s name and renowned level of medical care also are expected to attract new patients.

NYU Langone already has ties to Palm Beach County, including its most generous benefactors.

The medical center is named after Kenneth Langone, Home Depot’s co-founder and a resident of the exclusive Lost Tree Village community in North Palm Beach.
