Laptops taken in deputy porn case
Judge sets $300,000 bail and orders in-home arrest if he’s released.
WEST PALM BEACH — City police seized multiple phones, SD cards and laptops last week from the home of a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy accused of possessing child pornography, according to a recently released search warrant.
Adam Godbey, 38, was arrested June 29 on 30 counts of possession of child pornography.
Records indicate police found dozens of images and videos on those devices depicting young girls and boys engaging in sexual acts.
A judge ordered that Godbey, who has worked at the sheriff ’s office for four years, undergo a mental health evaluation.
He was back in court Wednesday when a judge set bail at $300,000 and ordered he be put on in-house arrest with a sheriff’s office GPS monitor if released.
He has to surrender any firearms and cannot have contact with any children, the judge ordered.
Godbey is on paid administrative leave.
The investigation into Godbey began in late May when someone notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline about pornographic images of children being uploaded to a website.
A search of the IP address determined they were uploaded by a Comcast customer whose IP address was linked to Godbey.
A judge signed a search warrant last month, and on June 28 police searched his home on South Flagler Drive.
Records indicate they found a cellphone and a laptop hidden above a kitchen cabinet.
Police seized two SD cards, three Samsung phones, Lenovo and Mac laptops, a Samsung watch, a Verizon flip phone and a notebook, according to court records.
“The Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office holds its employees to the highest standards and never
