Sheriff: Man stole $100,000 in jewelry, coins from home
A man who has spent nearly a decade in prison for theft and burglary was arrested again last month for reportedly stealing $100,000 worth of coins and jewelry from a Lake Worth home, Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office records state.
Timothy Watson, 51, was being held without bail Wednesday morning in the Palm Beach County Jail on burglary, larceny and property damage charges after he reportedly broke into a waterfront home near Bryant Park the afternoon of June 22.
The alarm company notified authorities, who took Watson into custody in the backyard. He had a large gold necklace in his left pocket and was holding a bag of coins, authorities said. He also had a folding knife with him. Records indicate he ignored deputies’ commands.
A window on the home sustained more than $1,000 in damage during the burglary, authorities said. They found an orange kettlebell, used for exercising, under the damaged window, which appeared to be where Watson entered the home.
The homeowner, who asked not to be named, told The Post all of the stolen property was recovered. He praised deputies’ work on the case.
Watson had no known address when he was arrested. His criminal history includes multiple burglaries and thefts in Palm Beach County. He most recently was released from prison in December 2015 after a five-year stint behind bars for attempting to burglarize his neighbor’s North Palm Beach home, according to court records.
State prison records indicate Watson has nine other convictions in Florida, all related to theft, burglary and pawning.
Watson has pleaded not guilty to the mos t recent charges.
