WEST PALM BEACH — Jevaughn Suckoo died about a week before he was to become the father of twins.

The 26-year-old man — already a father of a 2-yearold girl — was fatally shot at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Military Trail gated apartment complex he and his girlfriend called home.

They had recently celebrated the impending births with a baby shower.

His death at the Renaissance Apartment complex has been ruled as a homicide, according to West Palm Beach Police Department, the 19th in the city during 2017 and the 65th in Palm Beach County, according to a Palm Beach Post database.

Jevaughn Suckoo, who was a server at Christafaro’s catering company, graduated from Royal Palm Beach High School in 2008, according to his father, Dwight Suckoo, who on Wednesday urged whoever shot his son to surrender to police.

“We’re going to find him. We’re going to catch him,” Dwight Suckoo said. “You can be assured that we will find out who did it.”

The elder Suckoo said he was leaving work when he got the call that his eldest son had been shot.

“My child is a damn good child and (he) didn’t deserve to die the way he died,” Dwight said.

He said his son was a good kid but had a history of arrests for marijuana.

Jevaughn was found guilty of three marijuana-related crimes in the past three years, according to court documents.

“I try to keep my family away from things like this. Unfortunately, my son got caught up in it,” Dwight said.

Late Tuesday at the apartment complex, a woman wept after speaking with officers. She asked others around if a man had really died.

“I want to see him. I want to see my child,” she wailed behind yellow police tape.

Neighbors said the complex, on the east side of Military Trail between Community Drive and 45th Street, was usually a quiet neighborhood and that they could not recall any recent violent incidents.

There haven’t been any other homicides in the complex or surrounding area this year, according to The Post’s database.
