PALM BEACH GARDENS — A fight over the television volume early Monday ended with a woman setting fire to her home near the Palm Beach Gardens city limits while her two young children were asleep inside, Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office records state.

An intoxicated Judith Juste, 29, was watching TV at about 3 a.m. Monday in the home on Chapel Street, east of Interstate 95 and north of Northlake Boulevard, a man in the home told authorities.

The man asked Juste to lower the volume — her two kids, 10 and 5, were asleep nearby — but she refused.

He unplugged the Amazon Fire TV Stick and she switched to a local TV station.

The volume, however, didn’t change, the man said.

The two started arguing and Juste reportedly punched the man in the back of the head. She pushed him out of the home and threatened to burn his stuff, the report said.

Juste then walked into a bedroom with lighter fluid and a barbecue lighter in hand and poured the fluid over the man’s clothes, which were hanging in the room, records state.

The man tried to stop Juste from lighting the clothes, but she punched him, according to the report.

When he realized she was really going to light the fire, he grabbed the sleeping kids and drove off, he said.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue authorities say the fire originated from clothes hanging in the closet.

Everything in the bedroom was burned, sheriff ’s office records state, and the home suffered severe smoke and water damage, causing an estimated $60,000 in damage.

The Red Cross was called to assist the four people displaced by the fire.

Juste faces first-degree arson and battery charges.

A judge ordered she undergo a mental health evaluation and set her bond at $20,000. Juste was released late Tuesday.

She is not allowed to be alone with children.

She also will be randomly tested for drugs and alcohol.
