Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter Friday asking that O.J. Simpson not relocate to Florida once he is released from prison in Nevada in the coming weeks.

Bondi asked the Department of Corrections to “immediately notify all appropriate authorities” in Nevada that Florida objects to having him move back to the state. Simpson previously lived in the Miami area.

In her letter, Bondi quotes Simpson saying he “could easily stay in Nevada but I don’t think you guys want me here.”

“In light of Mr. Simpson’s history in California, Nevada and Florida, the same goes for the People of Florida,” she wrote.

In 2008, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping after a confrontation with sports memorabilia collectors in a Las Vegas hotel room. Simpson, 70, was granted parole in July after serving nearly nine years in prison. He is expected to be released in October.

Simpson, an NFL Hall of Famer and ac tor, was acquitted in 1995 of homicide charges in the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman but later found liable for the killings in a civil lawsuit.

If Simpson is released to Florida, Bondi asks that he must report to his parole officer in person, must wear an electronic motoring bracelet, not consume alcohol or drugs and be tested on a regular basis as well as have his travel restricted.

“Floridians are well aware of Mr. Simpson’s background, his wanton disregard for the lives of others, and of his scofflaw attitude with respect to the heinous acts for which he has been found civilly liable,” she wrote. “The specter of his residing in comfort in Florida should not be an option.”
