Adams ‘feeling great’ after scary hit

Wideout released from hospital after Packers beat Bears.

Packers receiver Davante Adams tweeted Friday that he was at home and “feeling great” a day after taking a frightening hit from Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan.

Adams was taken off the field on a stretcher in the third quarter on Thursday night after getting hit in the head and face during a tackle by Trevathan. The game was delayed for about five minutes while medical personnel tended to Adams. He gave a thumbs-up signal as he was wheeled off the field.

The Packers said he was conscious and taken to a hospital for evaluation for possible head and neck injuries, and that he had feeling in all of his extremities. Doctors said Adams sustained a concussion. Reports say an MRI came back negative.

Trevathan was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty following Adams’ 8- yard catch but was not ejected and any fine would come to light next week.

“Brutal hit ,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. “It’s a helmet-to-helmet hit. Davante was in a compromised position. Obviously, like everything in our game, it’s evaluated and I’m sure there will be continued conversation going on through the channels.”

Trevathan said the hit was unintentional.

“I was just trying to make a play. It wasn’t intentional. I was just trying to do my job and he ended up getting hurt,” Trevathan said. “I’m sorry about that and I’m going to reach out to him.”

Green Bay won 35-14 behindfour touch down passes by Aaron Rodgers and four turnovers by Bears quarterback Mike Glennon.

Adams was one of several players the already banged-up Packers lost during the game. Starting running back Ty Montgomery sustained broken ribs on the opening possession of the game and No. 2 running back Jamaal Williams left in the second quarter with a knee injury.

The Packers were already without their top five offensive tackles — including starters David Bakhtiari (hamstring) and Bryan Bulaga (ankle) — as well as defensive tackle Mike Daniels (hip) going into the game.

Raiders: May be without leading receiver Michael Crabtree against Denver after he missed practice Friday because of the lingering effects of a chest injury he suffered during the team’s loss to Washington.

Crabtree had been limited earlier in the week but was held out of the Raiders’ final workout and is listed as questionable. Coach Jack Del Rio declined to say whether Crabtree had suffered a setback and said a decision may not be made until Sunday.

Jets: Matt Forte won’t play Sunday against the Jaguars because of turf toe that has kept him out of practice all week. Bilal Powell is likely to shoulder the rushing load.

Meantime, defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson is questionable with a sprained shoulder that limited him in practice this week.

Browns: Rookie defensive end Myles Garett is listed as questionable to make his NFL debut on Sunday against Cincinnati. Garrett missed Cleveland’s first three games with a severely sprained right ankle.

The Browns will be with- out starting linebacker Jamie Collins, who remains sidelined with a concussion.

He was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for the celebration, and met a few days later with unhappy co-owner John Mara.

Titans: The NFL is investigating death threats to Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker and his family. Walker told fans upset by national anthem protests that they didn’t have to go to games if they felt disrespected.
