GREEN MARKET SEASON IS BACK

Ah, it’s green market season.

What’s not to love about green market season? The markets provide fresh produce from area farms, artisanal goods, local plants, baked goods, gourmet foods and much more. Plus it’s a great time to just get outside and enjoy South Florida’s fall season.

Here is informatio­n on each one as they open for the season.

West Palm Beach GreenMarke­t

24Open: Saturdays, through April Hours: 9a.m. to 1p.m. Location: downtown on the West Palm Beach waterfront (at eastern end of Clematis Street)

Highlights: With a stunning view of the West Palm waterfront, this market is designed for browsing, noshing, and lingering while listening to music or watching the kids and pups play. The area’s top farms are well represente­d in the market stalls, offering a chance to meet the farmers. The GreenMarke­t also offers unlimited mimosas for $10 and free activities for kids. Dog-friendly? Yes

Parking: Free at the Evernia and Banyan public garages during market hours

Palm Beach Gardens GreenMarke­t

Open: Sundays, through May 6 Hours: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: 10500 N. Military Trail (Palm Beach Gardens Municipal Complex), Palm Beach Gardens

Highlights: This folksy market offers a mix of farm-fresh produce, prepared foods, artisanal goods and other products in a low-key sett ing.Ah andf ul of seating areas are available for listening to live music.

Dog-friendly? No, city ordinance forbids all pets at city parks (except for service dogs)

Parking: Free in the surroundin­g public lots

Royal Palm Beach Green Market and Bazaar

Opens: Sundays, through April Hours: 9a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: Veterans Park,1036 Royal Palm Beach Blvd., Royal Palm Beach

Highlights: Shaded walkways and seating areas are a big plus at this market, which offers organic products, local plants, produce, spices, baked goods and arts and crafts.

Dog-friendly? Yes

Parking: Free in lots

Lake Worth Farmers Market

Opens: Oct. 21 through April 28 Hours: 9 a.m. to 1p.m. Location: Old Bridge Park, on the northwest corner of A1A and Lake Avenue

Highlights: This is a true farmers

market, where one can buy produce directly from farmers. The waterside setting enhances the experience.

Dog-friendly? Yes

Farmers Market at Harboursid­e Place

Opens: This is a year-round market

Hours: Sundays - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (starting Oct. 22, hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

Location: Harboursid­e Place, 200 N. U.S. 1, Jupiter

Highlights: The market kiosks line the waterway from just across Tommy Bahama restaurant southward. Mostly farm-fresh produce and plants are offered here.

Dog-friendly? Yes Parking: Free on the street and garage (no charge for up to two hours)

Delray Beach GreenMarke­t

Opens: Oct. 28 through May

Hours: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Location: Old School Square Park, 96 NE Second Ave., Delray Beach

Highlights: The market’s offerings include many artisanal food products, farmto-fork produce, fresh-cut flowers and other unique gourmet fares along with live music.

Dog-friendly? Yes Parking: Free in nearby garage

Green Market at Wellington

Opens: Saturdays, through April 28

Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: 12150 Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington

Highlights: The market offers a range of organic produce, prepared foods and other culinary goods as well as artisan handcrafts.

Parking: Next to the amphitheat­er

Riviera Beach Green & Artisan Market

Opens: Every Saturday Hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Location: 200 East 13th Street, Riviera Beach (Riviera Beach City Marina)

Highlights: This is a yearround market set along the water at the Riviera Beach Marina Village. It features great produce, specialty food items, jewelry, arts and crafts and health/nutrition items. Dog-friendly? Yes Parking: Parking available at the Riviera Beach Marina Village

Jupiter Farmers Market at El Sol

Opens: Sundays, Nov. 5 through April 29

Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: 106 Military Trail at El Sol, Jupiter (corner of Military Trail and Indiantown Road)

Highlights: More than 35 vendors will offer homemade salsas, French pastries, imported cheese, fresh-cut floral bouquets and much more.

Dog-friendly? Yes Parking: Plenty of free parking near the event
