Dwyer High student charged with having gun

A Dwyer High School student was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a school bus and charged with having a gun on him, Riviera Beach police said.

The 16-year-old faces a charge of a juvenile in possession of a weapon. He was arrested near West 23rd Street and Avenue E while on Bus 659’s afternoon route, school Principal Joe DePasquale said in a call to parents Wednesday.

He said school police learned about the weapon from an anonymous call that afternoon.

Additional school police were on campus Wednesday, DePasquale said.
