Paris officials take aim at gas-powered cars

-

PARIS — In its latest initiative to reduce air pollution, Paris wants gasoline-powered cars off the roads by 2030, deputy mayor Christophe Nadjovski said Thursday.

Paris City Hall issued a statement insisting 2030 isn’t an official deadline but “a feasible and realistic” goal. The statement said city officials would keep discussing the issue with residents and carmakers.

The move follows Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s plan to ban all diesel cars from the city by 2024, when Paris will host the Summer Olympics.
