Giants bring back corner

Rodgers-Cromartie reinstated after missing one game.

-

The Giants have ended their suspension of veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for insubordination.

Team officials announced Tuesday that RodgersCromartie was reinstated to the active roster after missing the team’s game against Denver on Sunday night.

The team says RodgersCromartie met with coach Ben McAdoo on Tuesday morning, then was taken off of the reserve/suspended by club list.

The 31-year-old veteran was suspended for leaving the team facility before practice last week. He also left the bench then returned in the second half of the Giants’ loss to the Chargers, a move that prompted McAdoo to make Rodgers-Cromartie inactive for the Broncos game.

Rodgers-Cromartie is in his 10th season, with 26 tackles in five games this year.

Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott has been granted another legal reprieve in the running back’s fight to avoid a six-game suspension over domestic violence allegations. A federal judge granted a temporary restraining order blocking the league’s suspension Tuesday night, clearing Elliott to play Sunday at San Francisco.

U.S. District Judge Paul Crotty’s ruling comes five days after a federal appeals court overturned a Texas court’s injunction that had kept Elliott on the field this season. Crotty granted the request for a temporary restraining order pending a hearing before the presiding judge.

Elliott, last year’s NFL rushing leader as a rookie, was barred from the team’s facility Tuesday.

Panthers: Carolina is faced with the difficult task of replacing three-time AllPro Luke Kuechly for the third time in three seasons.

Kuechly is back in the NFL concussion protocol after taking a blow to the head in Carolina’s loss to the Eagles on Thursday night. He attended practice on Tuesday but did not participate. Coach Ron Rivera said Kuechly is “advancing” in the NFL protocol, but said his status remains unclear for Sunday’s game at Chicago.

Bucs: Jameis Winston has a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder, an injury Tampa Bay is hoping will not cost him any more playing time. The third-year quarterback was hurt during the first half of Sunday’s 38-33 loss at Arizona. X-rays were negative, and coach Dirk Koetter said an MRI performed Monday revealed no structural damage.

“He’ll be day to day for right now,” Koetter said, adding that Winston has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game at Buffalo. “We just have to see how it goes during the week.”

49ers: Defensive lineman Arik Armstead broke his hand during the 49ers’ loss in Washington and will need surgery, coach Kyle Shanahan said. Armstead, a first-round pick in 2015, will miss significant time for a second straight season after having shoulder surgery that cost him the final eight games of 2016.

Packers: Signed rookie quarterback Jerod Evans to the practice squad after Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken right collarbone against Minnesota. The 6-foot-3, 232pound Evans originally was signed as an undrafted rookie by the Eagles out of Virginia Tech but was released.

Jaguars: Waived kicker Jason Myers two days after he hooked two 54-yard field goals in a loss to the Rams. The Jaguars replaced Myers with free agent Josh Lambo, who made 54 of 64 field goals (81.2 percent) in two seasons with the Chargers. Late Monday

(At) Titans 36, Colts 22: Wesley Woodyard folded his arms as his Tennessee teammates bowed in front of the veteran linebacker near midfield in celebration. Woodyard had just forced Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett out of bounds shy of the first down marker on fourth-andinches, sealing the Titans’ win over Indianapolis.

It ended the Titans’ 11-game skid to their AFC South rivals — the one tied for the longest active drought against one team in the NFL.

“We feel like every game’s a must-win, but this was definitely a must-win, especially with the 11-game streak on the line,” said Woodyard, who also had a team-high eight tackles and recovered a fumble. “We came in and answered the call.”

The Titans (3-3) next head to winless Cleveland for a chance to move above .500 before their bye. Still waiting for Andrew Luck, the Colts (2-4) have yet to beat a team with a win this season.
