POMPANO BEACH — The son of a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy faces charges after he allegedly used his father’s unmarked patrol vehicle to pull his ex-girlfriend’s car over Saturday in Broward County.

Christopher Glenn Combs was arrested in suburban Pompano Beach on charges that include impersonating a police officer, armed robbery and false imprisonment. According to an arrest report, Combs is a cadet with the Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office and his father is a lieutenant with the agency.

A judge ordered that Combs, 22, remain on house arrest with GPS monitoring while his case moves through the court system and that he surrender his passport. A Palm Beach County sheriff ’s spokeswoman said that Combs was fired from the Cadet program. The agency is conducting an internal review of the incident, including what role the elder Combs might have played in it.

His arrest came after Broward deputies were called shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday to investigate an alleged armed robbery. A man told deputies he and his girlfriend were hanging out near a lake when a friend of Combs drove by and yelled at them.

The couple were leaving the lake moments later when they were pulled over by a patrol vehicle whose emergency lights were activated, the report said. They were ordered to step out of the truck.

The woman told deputies she recognized the voice on the intercom as that of Combs, her former boyfriend. Combs allegedly ordered the woman’s new boyfriend to walk back to the patrol vehicle with his hands up and to lie on the ground.

A passenger in the unmarked vehicle got out and took the man’s belongings, the report said. The men in the patrol car then left the scene.

Combs admitted to investigators that he had access to his father’s patrol vehicle, but denied using it. He said it had been parked at a friend’s house in suburban Boca Raton, the report said.
