Today is the deadline to register for the 19th Boynton Beach Firefighte­r Benevolent Associatio­n Charity Golf Tournament on Oct. 28. The tournament is at Cypress Creek Golf Club. All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The tournament will be a four-person, best-ball scramble, featuring a helicopter golf-ball drop. Entry fee is $100 per golfer, which includes green fees, half a cart, drinks, 19th-hole buffet and various gifts. The tournament is looking for sponsors ranging from the $2,500 Fire Chief ’s Title Sponsor to $125 individual hole sponsorshi­ps. The Community Redevelopm­ent Agency’s 6th Haunted Pirate Fest & Mermaid Splash is Saturday and Sunday along East Ocean Avenue between Seacrest Boulevard and Federal Highway. The free event is 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The avenue will be transforme­d into Hobb’s Cove with pirates and mermaids. There will be 12 stages with live music, children’s activities and pirate stunt shows. The Barnes & Noble in Boynton is hosting a Children’s Storytime on Saturday. The book to be read is Margaret Wise Brown’s “Good Day, Good Night.” The event is at 11 a.m. Activities will follow.
