Today is the deadline to register for the 19th Boynton Beach Firefighter Benevolent Association Charity Golf Tournament on Oct. 28. The tournament is at Cypress Creek Golf Club. All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The tournament will be a four-person, best-ball scramble, featuring a helicopter golf-ball drop. Entry fee is $100 per golfer, which includes green fees, half a cart, drinks, 19th-hole buffet and various gifts. The tournament is looking for sponsors ranging from the $2,500 Fire Chief ’s Title Sponsor to $125 individual hole sponsorships. The Community Redevelopment Agency’s 6th Haunted Pirate Fest & Mermaid Splash is Saturday and Sunday along East Ocean Avenue between Seacrest Boulevard and Federal Highway. The free event is 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The avenue will be transformed into Hobb’s Cove with pirates and mermaids. There will be 12 stages with live music, children’s activities and pirate stunt shows. The Barnes & Noble in Boynton is hosting a Children’s Storytime on Saturday. The book to be read is Margaret Wise Brown’s “Good Day, Good Night.” The event is at 11 a.m. Activities will follow.
