BOCA RATON — A suburban Boca Raton man is accused of burglariz- ing the home of his ex-wife’s friend and stealing $7,400 worth of jewelry, according to an arrest report.

Kevin Christopher Spridik, 43, is facing charges of burglary and grand theft between $5,000 and $10,000. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Nov. 1 after posting a $15,000 bond.

The victim told sheriff ’s depu- ties that she asked Spridik’s former wife, who is also a neighbor, to watch her home on Arbor Club Way, west of Military Trail and south of Camino Real, while she was out of town from Aug. 31 to Sept. 5.

When the woman returned to the home, she found her jewelry missing, the report said.

Spridik’s ex-wife told the victim, “I will fix it.” She arranged a meet- ing for Sept. 22 between the victim and Spridik at the Publix Super Market at West Palmetto Park and Powerline roads.

When Spridik arrived, the victim and a sheriff ’s deputy were waiting for him.

Spridik handed over a bag to the victim containing some of the stolen jewelry, the report said. Spridik said he returned to the pawn shops where he sold the woman’s jewelry and bought it back.

The v ictim wasn’t satisfied because about $5,000 worth of jewelry remained missing.

“This is all that I took,” Spridik told the woman, the report said. “I feel bad, as our children are best friends, and they shouldn’t have to suffer over what I did wrong.”

After tellingdeputies she did not want to press charges against Spridik, the victim changed her mind Oct. 30. Spridik admitted to entering the woman’s home several times, including once with his 8-year-old son, the report said.

Spridik is already facing a charge of grand theft for allegedly stealing a woman’s purse and her keys while he was with his family at the Chuck E. Cheese’s on State Road 7 north of West Palmetto Park Road on July 7, celebrating his son’s birthday, according to an arrest report. He was arrested Aug. 17 and released on a $3,000 bond.

Records show that Spridik spent about 31 months in prison after he was convicted in October 2001 of burglary, theft and gun charges in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
