Kizzire leads by two shots at OHL Classic

-

Patton Kizzire carried some momentum from last week in Las Vegas by running off six straight birdies in the middle of his round for a career-low 9-under 62 and a two-shot lead in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Rickie Fowler, playing for the first time since the Presidents Cup on Oct. 1, showed little rust in opening with a 65.

Kizzire closed with a 64 Sunday in Las Vegas to tie for fourth, his best finish in more than a year in his bid to finally win on the PGA Tour.

■ Bernd Wiesberger birdied the last hole to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa.

■ Ashleigh Buhai shot a 4-under 68 to take a onestroke lead over Shanshan Feng after the second round of the Blue Bay LPGA tournament in Hainan, China.

ODDS AND ENDS

Tennis: Sloane Stephens is back with the United States team for the Fed Cup final, and Victoria Azarenka is missing for Belarus. That alone gives the early advantage to the Americans.

Stephens, who won the U.S. Open this year for her first major title, missed the opening two rounds of the international team competition because of a foot injury.

She will be playing alongside CoCo Vandeweghe, Shelby Rogers and Alison Riske in the best-of-five series this weekend in Minsk.

Boxing: Chilean authorities say they’ve denied former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson entry to the country and are sending him back to the U.S., apparently due to his criminal record. Tyson served three years of a sixyear sentence in the 1990s for raping a teenage beauty-pageant contestant.
