CRASH NEAR LANTANA KILLS MOTORCYCLIST, INJURES WIFE
Business owner dies, wife seriously injured after collision with car.
LANTANA — The owner of a Boynton Beach stone restoration firm was killed and his wife seriously injured when their motorcycle crashed into a car west of Lantana on Saturday afternoon, a Florida Highway Patrol report said.
According to the report, around 5 p.m. Saturday, a 2016 Infiniti driven by Marie Alcindor, 43, of the Lake Worth area, was heading east on Lantana Road and was in the left-turn lane to turn onto Lake Osborne Drive.
As Alcindor turned, a motorcycle driven by Patricio Romula Da Cunha, 32, and carrying wife Natalia Soares Da Cunha, 28, struck the car’s right side, throwing both people.
Patricio Da Cunha was killed. His passenger was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach with serious injuries. Her condition was not available Sunday.
The FHP reported that the cause of the wreck remained under investigation.
The report said Alcindor, who wore a seat belt, was unhurt. Both motorcyclists wore helmets, the report said.
Patricio Da Cunha was founder and CEO of All Stones Restorations and Services, his brother confirmed Sunday from New Jersey. The couple lived in the Boynton Beach area.
Patricio’s company restored natural stone materials for homes on countertops, walls and other surfaces.
“I have no words right now,”
a heavy-hearted Sebastiao Da Cunha Santos said from Harrison, N.J.
He said Patricio had moved to Florida, seeking new opportunities, about a decade ago from Manaus, in northwest Brazil.
For about seven years, he had been with Natalia, who had come from Brazil when she was about 4. The two were married about five years, and had no children, Patricio’s brother said. He said Natalia was a pharmacist.
Sebastiao Da Cunha Santos said he had not yet planned services.
