PLAYERS TO WATCH
Nicolas Adolphy, Lake Worth Christian, Jr., Midfielder: Adolphy was a first-team All-Area pick last year after racking up 17 goals and four assists. Chris Altonen, Boca Raton, Sr., Midfielder: Altonen was a first-team All-Area pick in 2016-17 and will try to get the Bobcats back to the level they’re used to following their first district loss in 14 years. Mikael Ameris, Oxbridge Academy, Sr., Forward: Ameris, a first-team All-Area pick last year, is a versatile player who can come up to attack or stay back and defend. He had 16 goals and five assists as a junior.
Ritchy Cajuste, Atlantic, Sr., Defender: Cajuste, who also runs track, and the Eagles are looking to improve on last year’s 7-7-2 season with most of the lineup returning.
Ryan DeBiase, Boca Raton, Sr., Forward: DeBiase paced
the Bobcats with 12 goals last season. Alejandro Gomez, St. Andrew’s, Jr., Midfielder: Gomez returns to the Scots after scoring 12 times with seven assists as a sophomore. Stefan Kneffel, Boca Raton Christian, Jr., Forward: Last year’s Palm Beach Post Small Schools Player of the Year scored 42 goals, but will miss part of the season because of his club schedule. Douglas Phillips, American Heritage, Sr., Forward: Racked up 16 goals and 10 assists last season and was named to the Post’s first-team All-Area squad.
Brendan Rogers, Jupiter, Sr., Midfielder: A secondteam pick at Jupiter last year after being a first-team pick for Jupiter Christian. Rogers had two goals and five assists last season. Roland Tyson, Royal Palm Beach, Sr., Goalkeeper:
Tyson recorded eight shutouts last season.
