Teens accused of selling oxycodone, fentanyl

FORT PIERCE — Two male students from Fort Pierce Central High School were arrested Thursday for attempting to sell oxycodone and fentanyl on campus, the St. Lucie County Sheriff ’s Office said.

The teens, ages 17 and 16, were in possession of two prescription fentanyl patches and “an assortment of white pills weighing almost half a pound,” among them oxycodone, in a large resealable plastic bag. The medication was found in one of the teen’s homes as the result of the recent death of a family member.

Students who purchased drugs from the two signed statements about the teens’ efforts to sell drugs, a sheriff ’s report said.

The Palm Beach Post is not identifying the teens because they are juveniles and have not been charged as adults.

The 16-year-old faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and one count each of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of a Schedule II narcotic with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school.

The 17-year-old faces one charge of possession of a Schedule II narcotic with the intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school.

The students’ grades were not immediately available. St. Lucie Schools Superintendent Wayne Gent said the students could face expulsion.
