Spread favors Pats by a lot

Dolphins have too much to overcome at New England.

If you thought losing to the lowly Bucs was bad ...

Dolphins fans had to be walking out of Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday feeling down in the dumps over the sloppy 30-20 loss to Tampa Bay, but equally dreading what’s coming next: a November trip to frigid New England to face the red-hot Patriots (8-2).

News flash: Las Vegas thinks the Dolphins, who have lost four straight to stumble to 4-6, are about to get run over by a snowplow.

The game opened on the betting lines with Miami as a 15½-point underdog — largest of any game next weekend and fat by NFL standards.

Already, the spread is up to 16½, indicating lots of bettors were jumping on the line when it was a mere 15½.

Some sites, including Britain’s William Hill, have the Dolphins losing by an avalanche: 17 points.

We have no idea why bookies are so sure the Patriots will win. Could it be because:

■ The Dolphins haven’t won in Foxborough since 2008 — the Wildcat game?

■ Since 2000, the Patriots are 13-3 vs. Miami at home?

■ The Patriots are on a six-game winning streak?

■ The Dolphins have one of the worst point differentials in the league at -97?

■ Everybody has eyes? Dolphins coach Adam Gase said his team can’t worry about who it is playing Sunday.

“We have to worry about getting ourselves better,” Gase said.

“We can’t worry about who we’re playing and how we’re playing.”
