‘Biggest Little Invitation­al’ sets record

Mercedes-Benz of Palm Beach in partnershi­p with the American Red Cross completed its 24th annual golf tournament. Nicknamed “The Biggest Little Invitation­al,” the May 7 event took place at Bear Lakes County Club in West Palm Beach, raising more than $60,000 for the Palm Beach and Martin County chapter of the American Red Cross. For the 114 golfers who competed for one of the top two spots in this advancing tournament, John Booth of Jupiter (low gross) and Garrett Meyer of Wellington (low net) advanced to compete as “Team Palm Beach” in the four-day Sectional at world renowned Torrey Pines golf course in La Jolla, CA.

Competing against 94 other two-man teams from the East and West coast Mercedes-Benz dealers, Booth and Meyer will again advance, having placed third in the fourday event that took place October 1–5. The top three teams from each coast advance to play for the National Title, which takes place in April at West Lake County Club, Augusta,

GA. This once in a lifetime experience includes an invitation to participat­e in the exclusive activities surroundin­g Mercedes-Benz USA’s global partnershi­p with the Masters.

Jim Balogh, tournament Director and Senior Sales Consultant at Mercedes-Benz of Palm Beach noted that the luxury car company was pleased to support the American

Red Cross as its exclusive charity partner for the ninth consecutiv­e year. “The day to day work of the American Red Cross often goes unnoticed and impacts all of our local communitie­s in helping to alleviate human suffering. The Home Fire Campaign which targets saving lives and reducing fires and the Red Cross’s Service to our Armed Forces are two of their pillar of services yielding tremendous results,” said Balogh.

Ed Jachim, Regional Philanthro­py Office of the American Red Cross South Florida Region commented on the continued partnershi­p and significan­ce of the tournament. “This event continues to surpass its fundraisin­g goals.
