Raise the roof!
How remarkable to honor the inaugural Kip’s Bay Show House on our cover this week. I was fortunate to attend the pre-renovation cocktail party that introduced the house and its participating designers last April. That feels like a lifetime ago. Then, I was just another avid reader of Notables, tracking the latest goings-on in the Palm Beach community. I had no idea that only six months later I would be seated at the editor’s desk, working with an amazing team to produce this guide to society, charity and service.
That same impressive turn-of-events occurred with the Kips Bay Show House, which opens to the public on November 25 and runs through December 19. This year’s debut house derives from the esteemed Kips Bay Decorator Show House program in New York City. The charity benefits both Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, altogether serving more than 18,000 young people.
The Kips Bay Palm Beach Show House will present the creativity of 17 talented landscape and interior designers from Palm Beach,
New York, Boston, Chicago and Atlanta. I’m as excited to see their results as the designers must be to reveal their remarkable transformations. The challenges to deliver this beautifully decorated house will be but a memory in the weeks ahead, as visitors will admire the interior spaces and gardens. Well-deserved praise will shower on the designers who donated time, energy and sweat equity to create one of the most stunning show houses the region has ever seen.
