Louisville: Freshman forward Brian Bowen will not play for the Cardinals. The 6-foot-7 high school All-American from Saginaw, Mich., signed with Louisville in June but had been held out of practice and games since the school announced in September that it was being investigated in a federal corruption probe of bribery in college basketball. Louisville will give Bowen permission to transfer. Louisville also said it parted ways with associate coach Kenny Johnson.
Vanderbilt: Coach Bryce Drew signed top recruit Simisola Shittu to a national letter of intent for the class of 2018. The 6-9 forward is a five-star recruit, a consensus top 10 player and rated the nation’s eighth-best prospect by Rivals.com. Trier scored 27 points for Arizona.
No. 5 Villanova 66, Western Kentucky 58: Jalen Brunson scored 18 points as the Wildcats (4-0) beat the Hilltoppers (2-2) in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas. Darius Thompson scored 16 for Western Kentucky, which fell to 1-13 in its last 14 games against ranked opponents.

No. 11 Miami 57, La Salle 46: Freshman Lonnie Walker IV scored only five points in his return home to Reading, Pa., but Dewan Huell scored 16 points as the Hurricanes (4-0) beat the Explorers (3-3). B.J. Johnson had 16 points and Pookie Powell scored 15 for La Salle. Walker led Reading High School to its first state title in March.
No. 12 Cincinnati 78, Wyoming 53: Kyle Washington had 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Bearcats (6-0) beat the Cowboys (4-1) in the Cayman Island Classic.
Tennessee 78, No. 18 Purdue 75 (OT): Grant Williams scored 22 points and hit the go-ahead shot with 14.5 seconds left in overtime as the Volunteers (3-0) beat the Boilermakers (4-1) in the Bahamas. Carsen Edwards scored 21 points to lead Purdue. Wednesday’s Games

NHL notes
Devils: Right wing Kyle Palmieri will be sidelined up to six weeks with a broken right foot, the team said. He was injured when a shot hit him Monday at Minnesota. Palmieri has four goals and five assists in 13 games. He missed six games this season after injuring his left foot in practice Oct. 22.
Stars: The Stars recalled left wing Curtis McKenzie from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and reassigned defenseman Julius Honka to the same club.
Red Wings: Center Scott Wilson left in the second period Wednesday with a lower-body injury after he slid to block a shot and took a puck in the left leg.
