BOOK DEBUT IN TIMELY FASHION

Author launches ‘I Am Woman’ at new bookstore

-

Loverly Sheridan, a local author, earlier this month launched her latest book, “I Am Woman,” at Book Cellar, Lake Worth’s latest bookstore on Lake Avenue.

Sheridan shares an amazing collection of compelling and thought-provoking stories told by women from around the world.

“I believe every woman has a story, but only she can tell it,” Sheridan said. “I want to encourage women to speak their truth and tell their stories out loud. I discovered that no matter which country I visited ... there was a common denominator through my various encounters (and that) we all have similar stories of heartache, betrayal, abuse, trauma, rejection and failure.”

Many of those women, Sheridan said, suffer in silence.

She said the launch was timely due to the sexual harassment accusations against film producer Harvey Weinstein, celebs and politicians.

“I believe the #MeToo campaign is more than just women coming forward on sexual abuse issues, it is also about encouraging women who have experienced other trauma and hardships, giving them a common thread that they’re not alone,” Sheridan said.

Several people showed up at the event.

“She had a group of women come and tell their stories to motivate other women,” said Book Cellar owner Tami Ayraud. “It was amazing.”
