The holiday season deserves the sobriquet, the most wonderful time of the year. Among the tree lightings, boat parades, and festive charity parties, one recent opening stood out. The Cynthia Rowley boutique at The Royal Poinciana Plaza—hosted by Notables contributor Darcy Fogg—benefitted the Ocean Conservancy, to protect the world’s oceans through sciencebased solutions to global challenges. The event highlighted an important cause. Who wouldn’t enjoy a new outfit in the name of our beloved Florida coastline.

Please also join Notables for a Sip-and-Shop to benefit the Young Friends of the Palm Beach Symphony, 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 14 at Vineyard Vines,

305 Worth Avenue, Palm Beach. The party will raise funds to provide aspiring children with musical instruments and to underwrite musical education in community schools. Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at 561-655-2657 or palmbeachsymphony.org/youngfriends.

I was touched recently to learn about the Hobe Sound Early Learning Center. As part of the Toys for Tots program, children from HSELC gather donations to give other youngsters (who might otherwise go without) a gift at Christmas. What a thoughtful and touching way to teach about the true spirit of the season. I applaud the school for creating this remarkable program, and I encourage our readers to consider Toys for Tots. If Christmas morning has taught me anything, please remember to include batteries with your toy donation.

I’d love to hear from you if your favorite charity is benefitting from creative fundraising efforts. Drop me a line at notables@ pbpost.com.
