The library is hosting a Winter Holiday Open House from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today. The event is for all ages and will be held in the program room. It’s sponsored by the Friends of the Boynton Beach City Library and will include holiday crafts, refreshmen­ts and a “chilling” demonstrat­ion by the South Florida Science Center. Boynton Beach police will host a Coffee with a Cop event from 8 to 10 a.m. today at the Boynton Diner, 500 E. Woolbright Road. This is an opportunit­y for residents to meet with a city police officer and ask questions. Attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the department’s toy drive for the Children’s Healing Institute.

The Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday for the Orchard Supply Hardware store that recently opened at 525 N. Congress Ave. The event is at 10 a.m. For informatio­n, call 561-732-9501.

HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE

Friday is the Boynton Beach and Delray Beach Annual Holiday Boat Parade. The event begins at 6 p.m. Decorated boats will line up at the Lantana Bridge near Old Key Lime House and travel south at 6:30 p.m. along the Intracoast­al Waterway to the C-15 Canal in Delray.

A viewing event at the Boynton Harbor Marina starts at 6 p.m. with live music. The parade can also be watched in Boynton at Intracoast­al Park, Jaycee Park and in Delray Beach from Veterans Park.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.

TIRE AMNESTY WEEK

The Solid Waste Division will pick up unwanted tires on residents’ regularly scheduled bulk trash day for free through Friday. Residents may place up to eight used tires (with or without rims) at the curb separated from vegetation, garbage cans and anything else. Tires are not accepted from businesses, and no tractor or commercial tires are allowed. For informatio­n, call 561-742-6200.

The City Commission will meet as the Community Redevelopm­ent Agency board Tuesday for the monthly public meeting. The meeting is 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 100 E. Boynton Beach Blvd.

A public workshop regarding Sara Sims Park improvemen­ts and an implementa­tion schedule will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Carolyn Sims Center, 225 NW 12th Ave.
