With construction of the massive Cobblestone Commons at Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lyons Road underway, the owners hope residents can shop and dine there as the calendar turns to 2019.

The Commons development brings a new grocery store to

Palm Beach County: Earth Fare, marketed as a natural foods store, which is in seven Florida loca

tions, all north of Fort Pierce. Earth Fare has banned artificial sweeteners, sucralose and high-fructose corn syrup, according to its website.

Cobblestone will also have a Wawa, Chase bank, Pollo Tropical, PetSmart, Mattress Firm,

Lang Realty, David & Company Hair and Nail Salon, Noire Nail Bar and a Cucina Moderna restaurant, said Rod Sheldon, one of the developers.

Sheldon said the project is about 75 percent leased and is more than 100,000 square feet. He expects stores to open in about

one year.

The development is part of an effort to transform Boynton Beach Boulevard into an attractive street by having walkable, heavily landscaped and modern shopping and dining plazas. Cobblestone will have a “Main Street” feel and is the first development under this effort to reach the construction phase, said Steve Oseroff, the development leader for the Coalition of Boynton West Residential Associations organization.

COBWRA is working with several developers to attain the walkable, modern feel while softening incoming plazas’ designs to make them appear more residential. This effort is also happening at Boynton Beach Boulevard and Hagen Ranch Road, and Jog and Hypoluxo roads, Oseroff said.

The Cobblestone site had a packing house on the land that had to be demolished. COBWRA is planning a groundbreaking ceremony for sometime this month.

Cobblestone’s largest stores will be Earth Fare at about 24,000 square feet and PetSmart at about

22,000 square feet.

Wawa will be a stand-alone, 6,000-square-foot building. Not including this one, Wawa has five locations in Palm Beach County: Greenacres, West Palm Beach and Riviera Beach, and two in Palm

Springs. The company plans to also open at Hypoluxo and High

Ridge roads and has submitted plans to the city of Boynton to open at Woolbright Road and Congress Avenue.

The Chase and Pollo Tropi

cal will each be in stand-alone buildings, according to the Cobblestone website. The rest of the stores will be grouped in at least three separate plazas.
