Victims in slayings on New Year’s Eve ID’d as brothers

BOYNTON BEACH — The victims from a double murder Sunday in Boynton Beach have been identified as 24and 21-year-old brothers, according to a probable-cause affidavit made public Tuesday by the Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptrolle­r.

Malcolm Frederick and his younger brother, Jamal Frederick, allegedly were shot multiple times by Joseph Bruny Jr., 26, following a dispute over drugs, according to Boynton Beach police.

The Frederick brothers were the 99th and 100th confirmed homicides in Palm Beach County during 2017, according to a Palm Beach Post online database.

records as Malcolm Frederick’s residence. Police found the Frederick brothers lying face down in its carport.

Bruny told police he shot the men after they threatened him with their own guns. But the report states that the brothers were both shot in the back.

Bruny is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
