Miles Bridges had 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds as No. 1 Michigan State (15-1, 3-0) rolled to a 91-61 Big Ten victory over visiting Maryland (13-4, 2-2).
No. 9 Wichita State 81, Houston 63: Landry Shamet scored 18 points to lead the Shockers (12-2, 2-0 American Athletic Conference) past the visiting Cougars (12-3, 2-1 American).
Etc: Shakyla Hill recorded the fourth quadruple-double in Division I women’s basketball history Wednesday night in Grambling State’s 93-71 win over Alabama State. The guard finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals. Hill passed to Monisha Neal for a 3-pointer that wrapped up the home win.

Hockey: Filip Gustavsson made 29 saves and Sweden had a three-goal third period to beat the defending champion Americans 4-2 in Buffalo, N.Y., in the world junior championship semifinals. Sweden will face the Canada-Czech Republic winner in the title game tonight.
Baseball: The Dodgers acquired left-handed reliever Scott Alexander from Kansas City in a three-team trade that also included the White Sox. Chicago got relievers Luis Avilan and Joakim Soria. … Rob Picciolo, a former major league infielder who later coached with the Padres and Angels, died of a heart attack at 64. … Former AllStar Mark Prior joined the Dodgers as bullpen coach.
Soccer: Tobin Heath had minor ankle surgery that will keep her out of January training with the U.S. women’s team. She could be out up to 12 weeks. … Major League Soccer’s season includes a nine-day break in June for the World Cup in Russia.
Skiing: Austrian star Marcel Hirscher won a slalom in Zagreb, Croatia, to match Italian Alberto Tomba’s 50 World Cup wins. … Olympic ski-jumping champion Kamil Stoch of Poland won his third straight World Cup event in Innsbruck, Austria.
Figure skating: Husband and wife Alexa Scimeca Knierem and Chris Knierem won the short program at the U.S. Championships in San Jose, Calif., even though he stumbled just before a key element.
Colleges: UNC Charlotte said Athletic Director Judy Rose will retire June 30. Rose is in her 43rd year with the 49ers and her 28th as AD.
