Natural areas part of Florida’s bounty

- BOYNTON BEACH

Palm Beach County is running out of money to keep up our natural areas. Our government has no issue with building a ballpark that most people do not use, but contributed to building with our hard-earned tax dollars, but we can’t afford the upkeep of the most important places of all, our nature trails and boardwalks. There is something very wrong with this picture.

Florida is overpopulated as it is. More and more houses are being built on swampland, taking away nesting areas for birds, and now we can’t seem to find the money to preserve our little remaining nature trails, etc.

This stadium was not needed. But what is needed is money to keep up our beautiful natural habitats.

What bugs me the most is these decisions need to be made by voting from all residents and not a handful of greedy, government entities that can care less about nature.

People, get out there and tell your legislators: No more money for advertising Florida. People already know what it is all about, and that we have sun and beaches.

Let’s get those in government to understand that this is our money and we make the decision on how to use it.

By the way, if these paper-pushers need to see what effect it will have by not funding the natural areas in the future, I suggest prohibiting them from visiting with their families and friends, since they obviously don’t care. EVELYN ENGSTROM,
