Boynton structure, residents featured on cover of catalog.

Boynton Beach has made it to the cover of a national playground catalog this year.

The main piece of the Meadows Park playground is from Play & Park Structures and the Tennessee-based company came to town last week to hold a photo shoot in search of their cover for the 2018 national playground catalog.

Residents and children attended the two-hour shoot at 4305 Congress Ave. but were told they only might make the cover. The city has since found out they’re on it. The million-dollar shot? A photo of a gleeful Cayden Williamson, the nephew of Gail Mootz who works in the city’s public works-facilities department, heading down a slide.

The catalog will be distributed in February and will go online Monday, said Michele Chandler, company spokeswoman.

In existence since 1976, Play & Park develops products, programs and services that enhance classroom learning, create environmental awareness, promote physical activity, play for all abilities and building community, according to its website.

Chandler said Boynton’s playground is at “a really natural park with lots of trees and the equipment just blends in so beautifully.”

The company chose Boynton for the cover over a playground in Houston. That playground will be featured on the back cover, Chandler said.
