1. Safe Streets Summit. The fifth Annual Safe Streets Summit, Feb. 1 and 2 at City Hall and the Hilton West Palm Beach respective­ly, brings together national speakers, public officials, technical staff and community partners to elevate efforts to implement safe and fair facilities for all modes of transporta­tion.

The conference will highlight the tools and elements that can help our residents love where they live, work, and play, while emphasizin­g how to make this vision a reality.

2. Photo contest. Grassy Waters Nature Center kicks off its 15th annual photo contest, 6:30 p.m., Monday. The Nature Center is on the south side of Northlake Blvd about a mile west of the Beeline Highway.

This free event will feature our contest judge John J. Lopinot’s presentati­on “What Makes A Great Photograph.”

3. February events. Free events are coming up this February in West Palm Beach. Highlights include:

■ Firefighte­r Chili Cook off at Clematis by Night, Feb. 1.

■ Screen on the Green, Feb. 9, will feature a make-and-take Despicable Me craft for kids, followed by a screening of “Despicable Me 3.”

■ GreenMarke­t’s Strawberry Festival, Feb. 10, features freshly made strawberry shortcakes by Chef Carlino of Cider Doughnuts, with proceeds benefiting Hospice of Palm Beach County.

■ Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute, Feb. 18, on the waterfront.
