Mayfield stirs pot with #GetMeToMiami post

- — JOE SCHAD

Everybody wants to live in paradise.

Add Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield to the list of folks who want to live and work in South Florida — even while conceding he would be happy playing for any of the NFL’s 32 teams.

“#GetMeToMiami,” Mayfield wrote during a recent live Instagram chat involving former Sooner and current Dolphins receiver Kenny Stills. Of course, that caused a stir and on Thursday night Mayfield said he made the Miami comment only because he was talking to Stills.

“Everybody can relax, I will play anywhere that gives me a chance,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’m not picky. I will go anywhere and strive to uplift a franchise and win ball games.”

Dolphins starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is returning from a knee injury. And the Dolphins would seem to have more pressing needs at: running back, tight end, guard, tackle, linebacker and cornerback or safety.

Recently, general manager Chris Grier would not rule out using the 11th overall pick on a quarterback and Mayfield certainly may be available.

Mayfield is exciting and mobile and accurate and his personality is basically the polar opposite of Tannehill, who is calm. Mayfield is a dynamic lightning rod, on and off the field.

Would it work?

Who knows.

But it would clearly be fun.
