SELF-STORAGE FACILITY SOUGHT

Some 800 units would be built on 7 acres in the Abacoa section.

-

A plan to build a 150,000square-foot self-storage facility on a 7-acre vacant site on the southeast corner of Frederick Small Road and Sweet Bay Circle is scheduled to go before the town’s planning and zoning commission at 7 p.m. Feb. 13.

Cleveland, Ohio-based Compass Self Storage plans about 800 storage units, both climate and non-climate-controlled, in the Abacoa neighborhood.

There would be several buildings. The tallest would be three stories. There would be no truck or trailer rentals on the property.

Fourteen parking spaces planned, according to the proposal.

The Town Council on

Jan. 16 approved a similar self-storage facility on the south side of Indiantown Road across from the Jupiter Medical Center Urgent Care Clinic.

That plan by Hilton Head, So. Carolina-based Pinnacle Storage LLC calls for demolishing the 21,000 square-foot Ellison Graphics building and replacing it with a new threestory building. The new 98,000-square-foot building will have about 700 storage units.

The Compass plan calls for access and entry from Frederick Small Road and Sweet Bay Circle. The L-shaped property, zoned commercial, is owned by Workplace Florida Ltd., according to Palm Beach County records.

The Town Council turned down a similar plan for the same parcel about two years ago.

The Town Council is scheduled to vote April 17. The council is not bound by the planning and zoning commission’s recommendation.
